For this project, we were asked to create film based on one single word. We could only use the videos we shot and editing to show the feeling and meaning of that word. My group had the word AWE. We wanted to capture a sense of amazement and deep emotion through the way our shots were made.
When approaching the project, our goal was to make the audience see what the character was feeling. We relied on facial expressions, reactions, and visual cues that would give this emotion without words. Using close ups and POV shots, allowed us to show perspective and emotions.
When brainstorming, we created a shot list to help us in the project. We planned out 15 shots that we wanted to use, ranging from close ups to medium and wide shots, also we included POV shots to help put the viewer in the scene.
Also, we made a storyboard to sketch out our sequence. The storyboard gave us a clear plan of how each shot would flow, it helped us stay organized while filming. By making the storyboard it made filming way easier, it ensured we didn’t miss any important shots.

When we were editing, I specifically decided to use Adobe Premiere Pro. Since I am certified and comfortable with the program, I was able to cut clips smoothly and apply POV cuts more effectively. Being familiar with Premiere made it easier for me and gave me the confidence to experiment with pacing.
Overall, I think we did well in capturing the emotion of awe. I think the POV shots put the audience directly into the experience. If I were to improve the project, I think focusing on transitions between shots and learn how use lighting to my favor would make the project better.
