Group Meeting #1

Last class my teacher did a group meeting with people of all groups and each person was moved to a separate group with other students from different projects to share of their film opening and progress made while also exchanging constructive comments and suggestions.

Bella's project is based on a heist at a bar. She said she got some of her inspiration from Spider man and the character’s ability to do what needs to be done and still joke around while doing it. She said their will be a chase scene. Bella and her group have created a filming schedule, she said that they will film on Mondays, showing that they are planning ahead. They are plan to film in town center.

Isabella’s romance/drama film opening also stood out with an animated story board that I thought was very cool. The project will be about a female facing an arranged marriage that she is not looking forward too, and asks her friend for help. Someone suggested the book GLOVES OFF for inspiration to the film opening.

Hayden has a psychological project based on Euphoria, and she has taken inspiration from different scenes like the intense waking up. The first part of her project focuses on a character who is preparing for school in a very nervous manner while showing stressful behaviors, for example she picks at her nails as if she is anxious. Another part of the project is a teacher conference scene in which a teacher starts to question the character about her odd drawings. Hayden has already chosen where she is going to film and has also mentioned movies that inspired her project like the Alice Sweet Alice, Black Swan, and Split. I suggested that during editing she incorporates heavy breathing into the audio of his video in order to build suspense and make the viewers feel as if they are experiencing tension.

Paula's project is about a character with a mental illness. The character's day to day life and taking medication is seen in the beginning stages of the film, but as time progresses, the character begins to see things. The story will be told from the character's POV, which leaves the audience to questioning what is real and what is imagined.

Lastly, Chase described the psychology behind his thriller, there are two main characters in this story. One character chases another and kills her, but the big twist is that neither of them knows they have switched their bodies.

The group meeting was great and very useful for me to see how other groups are doing their projects. It also helped me think about my project and have confidence in what my group has made so far.
